William Peter Besançon (1924-2014) of Toledo, Lucas County, OhioWilliam Peter "Bill" Besançon was born on June 19, 1924, in Stryker, Williams County, Ohio, U.S.A. He was the son of Paul Napoleon Besançon (1870-1951) and Lena Susan Grisier (1890-1968).

Bill Besançon graduated from Stryker High School in 1942.

During World War II, Bill received medals for his service in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Bill moved to Toledo, Ohio, where for 30 years he worked as a transmission inspector for G.M. Powertrain.

On September 25, 1961, Bill Besançon married Violet (née UNKNOWN) Cecil (born in 1932), originally of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The couple lived on Field Avenue in south Toledo. Violet, who had three children from a previous marriage, passed away on November 13, 1983.

William "Bill" Besançon passed away on April 6, 2014, only weeks after attending the funeral of Dick Besançon (of Elgin, Illinois), his last surviving sibling. He is buried alongside Violet at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

Bill had six siblings: Harry Charles Besançon (1918-1924), Paul Frederick Besançon (1923-2012), Richard "Dick" Besançon (1926-2014), Robert "Bob" Besançon (1926-2004), Ella Clementine "Clem" Besançon (1921-1995), and Emma "Maisie" Besançon (1920; stillborn).
